Today on CSPAN The Press Secretary was asked about The President’s views on Bigotry. According to Google, the word Bigotry means: “intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.” –When one is intolerant of the viewpoints of another one is close-minded. When one is close-minded they are so fixed on what they think that what other people think does not matter to them. It should always matter what people think to you to your person, and to your set of ideas that you put forward. If you do not listen and shun the belief systems of others, than one cannot expect to be heard the same and with the same or similar openness to ones viewpoints. What we see is not always clear, and the same goes to the viewpoints of others, and to those who we do not agree with. Intolerance is defined by Google as: “unwillingness to accept views, beliefs, or behavior that differ from one's own.” –It is therefore clear that the more we do not accept the viewpoints of those we do not agree with, the less we can expected to be heard in agreement. There is a fundamental value to valuing the opinions of others. Not as we see fit, not as they see fit, but for the sake and basis of respect for the humanity of others, and the ideas and belief systems that they hold dear to them, should always be regarded with respectful insights in return shared, to help better one another, not weaken or undermine and shun, not put down, belittle, and break down, but to be strengthened as a whole. That is how people are made stronger, when others are wrong or misguided, the best we can do is inform one another of ways to strengthen their differing viewpoints.
